How To Take Advantage Of Business Wire's Pricing and Distribution Fees

Introduction

Business Wire is a great place to get your Press Release Pricing. They've got a large network of reporters who are looking for content, but they also offer some pretty cool features like tracking results and analytics. One thing that we noticed when we ran our own self-service tool through their website was that their pricing had changed recently and it now costs more than ever before! In this post, we'll show you how much it would cost us to do a press release with Business Wire's new pricing scheme compared with what we were getting previously (and still are today).

PRWeb recently changed its pricing scheme to be much more costly, so we looked at what it would cost to do a press release with them. We took one of our customer's releases and ran their self-service tool to see how much it would cost for two weeks of distribution.

PRWeb recently changed its pricing scheme to be much more costly, so we looked at what it would cost to do a press release with them. We took one of our customer's releases and ran their self-service tool to see how much it would cost for two weeks of distribution.

The total cost was $828. That was not a surprise since PRWeb Pricing  uses the same platform as Business Wire and sends out all their clients on the same day. The good news is that there are some ways around this high price tag:

  • You can use your own website instead of theirs—you'll still get all the benefits of being in the "prestigious" Business Wire directory, but you won't have to pay as much! (Note: this only works if they don't block access from sites hosted by third parties.)

Setup Fee: $9.95 plus tax

The setup fee is a one-time fee, which means you can use the Business Wire services indefinitely. The only caveat is that if you want to change your release after it has been set up, you will have to pay the setup fee again.

Distribution Fee: $249.95 plus tax

The Distribution Fee is a flat fee that remains the same no matter how many shares you distribute or media outlets you distribute to. For example, if you want to send 200,000 shares of your company's stock to one investor and four hundred media outlets around the world, it will cost you $249.95 plus tax (the current rate).

The vast majority of companies have distribution fees based on the number of shares being sent out by their investors or journalists—they don't charge per country; they charge per amount sent out internationally (or domestically). If this sounds like something that might apply to your company's situation but isn't sure whether or not it does, contact us today!

Total: $260.39

The total cost of your PRNewswire Pricing  advertising campaign will be $260.39, while it's $440 if you go with PRNewswire.

If your business has a smaller budget and needs to keep costs low, then Business Wire is the best option for you. This way, your profit margin is higher than both other options because there are no additional fees for distribution or items like photography or printing materials (which can add up).

That's a pretty decent profit margin for them!

This is where PRWeb's business model shines. They've found a way to make money while still offering the same services as their competitors—they charge $249.95 per release and then charge another $9.95 setup fee, which comes out to a total of $260.39 for each release you send them (including marketing materials).

But that's not all! They also charge distribution fees on top of that, starting at $250 per month and going up from there depending on what type of distribution channels you choose: print or digital magazine subscriptions; radio stations; newspapers; magazines (this includes trade publications like ANGLE); TV stations and networks; cable providers (for example, Comcast buys into several publications); streaming services like Netflix and Hulu Plus subscribers who want access to your content 24/7; etcetera ad infinitum...

Conclusion

So, to recap: PRWeb has a decent setup fee and a pretty good distribution fee. That's not necessarily the best deal in the world, but it does mean that our customer can get his or her PRNewswire Cost  published for about $260.39 (and $4.50 in tax). We'd expect that to rise over time as PRWeb continues to grow and become more popular with other businesses looking for an easy way to reach journalists online or in person.
